Kerala holiday makers will be pleased to hear that in september 2012, Kerala’s state government is launching a seaplane taxi service in addition to hosting the Emerging Kerala Business Connect conference in Kochi. Kerala will have an open sky transport policy, to promote aerial taxi service transportation and a destination study is shortlisting suitable airport landing areas for amphibious sea planes to travel to from the major Kerala airports. Thiruvananthapuram, Karipur and Kochi airport are the main Kerala holiday transportation departure ports, while Peechi, Malampuzha and Wayanad are potential transporter tourist destinations. The Sea plane airport taxi initiative is being incentivised to get this new department of transport (DoT) idea off the ground. The likely model of seaplane chosen might be the Cessna Caravan, the Twin Otter, or the Dornier Seastar; each having a capacity for public transport of up to 20 business holiday passengers per flight.
